Hop into Health: The Year of the Rabbit with Acai and Yogurt Bowls

By Keri and Kelsi Matwick

The beginning of the new year encourages the beginning of new habits. Start healthy and happy with acai and yogurt bowls! These are no ordinary bowls. Imagine bananas, blueberries, and strawberries mingling over a bowl of frozen acai puree or Greek yogurt; pomegranate arils sparkle on top; and grated coconut adds a buttery flourish. Nestling such beautiful bowls into your hands will make it easy to hop into health for the Year of the Rabbit 2023.

To ignite your healthier year, see this list of Singapore’s best acai and granola yogurt bowls: full of flavor, super satisfying, and packed with healthy fruit that will make you feel amazing. Vibrant, fresh, vegan friendly, and satisfying—let’s dive into these bowls.

1. Grounded by CMCR, 22 Martin Road- Grounded, a café one level above the equally delicious (yet more indulgent) Common Man Coffee Roasters, serves two ultimate restorative fresh fruit bowls: the Acai Bowl and the Summer Chia Pudding.

  • Acai bowl comes topped with pomegranates, sliced bananas, cocoa nibs, and dried coconut. A generous drizzle of creamy peanut butter on top and an addictive chocolate granola on bottom will keep you scraping the bowl to the end.

  • Summer Chia Pudding features oat-milk-soaked chia seeds with Greek yogurt, goji berries, blueberry puree, fresh blueberries, and satisfying crunchy boulders of honey granola.

Here’s our AWA Insider Tip- Adjacent to Grounded are the Yoga Movement and XYCO spin studios. So as double incentive, head to Grounded and join a Power Flow yoga class or spin away with Rhythm for a pre- or post-nosh blast of energy.

2. 6 Letter Coffee, 259 Tanjong Katong Rd. After a stroll along the Geylang River, head over to this cute café where the extensive menu may overwhelm you with choices! You may want to repeat these smoothie bowls though each time as they are that good!

  • 6 Letter Color Smoothie Bowl- strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, banana, soy milk, and yogurt are blended into a creamy, pink puree, then topped with berries, granola, and coconut

  • Shades of Green Smoothie Bowl – avocado, banana, peanut butter, soy milk, yogurt, topped with avocado, peanut butter, honey, matcha powder, granola, and coconut

Here’s our AWA Insider Tip: Pick up the apple strudel pastry to go with the savings of no service charge or GST!

3. Plain Vanilla, various locations (our favorites are Neil Road and Tiong Bahru)

In addition to made-in-house pastries and cakes, the Granola Bowls at Plain Vanilla are small-batch, freshly prepared and deliver full in flavor and moderation. You must try one of the three premium nut Granola Bowls, served with natural Greek yogurt, or delight in the Fresh Fruit Bowl plus Greek Yogurt for a light morning or afternoon bite.

You might just become a regular and bring in your own container to support PV’s going green move towards sustainable practices and be rewarded with 5% off your breakfast, coffee, and lunch orders. Another loyalty incentive is the birthday reward with a free cupcake during your birthday month. After all, a healthy food mantra necessarily includes indulgences and must necessarily your birthday cake.

  • House Granola Bowl- house-blend granola, seasonal fruit, walnut crumble, agave nectar

  • Chocolate Granola Bowl- chocolate-blend granola, strawberries, banana, cacao nibs, toasted coconut flakes, honey

  • Maple Granola Bowl- maple-blend granola, blueberries, apple, sunflower seeds, sea salt almond butter, maple syrup

  • Fresh Fruit Bowl- apples, kiwi, melon, grapes, bananas, pomegranates, strawberries, chia seeds, sweetened with raw honey.

Here’s our AWA Insider Tip- Dive in the Chocolate Granola Bowl while sipping PV’s hot chocolate made with pure Valrhona cocoa paste and Belgian chocolate for an utterly delicious chocolatey start of your day.

4. Carrotsticks & Cravings, two delightful al fresco locations, Robertson Quay and Stanley Street

With a nod to the Year of the Rabbit, we had to include this AWA fan-favorite café. Founded by an Australian woman, Carrotsticks & Cravings serves dishes that will satisfy your cravings for wholesome bowls. Place a dine-in order for one of these berry bowls, customize your coffee with one of the 6 milk options, then order a homemade gluten-free almond butter cup to go!

  • Acai Berry Bowl- Served with berries and homemade granola and topped with your choice of peanut butter or toasted coconut chips.

  • Pitaya Wellness Bowl - Dragon fruit two ways, this bowl features pink dragon fruit puree topped with white dragon fruit pieces along with blueberries, strawberries, toasted coconut chips, chia seeds, and bee pollen.

Here’s our AWA Insider Tip- Elevate a special occasion with a catered event at Carrotsticks & Cravings. The Events offered range from social celebrations, such as Twins’ Birthday Parties, to Corporate Events like product launches, to Engagement parties and High Tea. Just check out the CSC Events Kit to get started on organizing your next event.

We hope this list inspires you to hop into health in the Year of the Rabbit with both healthy and delicious bowls. These cafes are worthy destinations for food, exercise, and ambience.
