Arts and Culture
Our activities can help you cultivate a passion for Asian arts and culture. We explore different topics such as appreciating Peranakan tiles and jewelry, hands-on workshops, intimate studio tours by local artists.
We like to spotlight various Asian cultures each year, thus making for some fun-filled activities. Experiencing the rich heritage of our surrounding countries gives us a chance to appreciate the wonders that lie not far from our door.

Beauty and fashion are two interconnected and influential aspects of the modern lifestyle that play a significant role in self-expression, self-confidence, and cultural trends. They are dynamic and ever-evolving aspects of contemporary culture, with trends and styles constantly changing to reflect societal values, tastes, and influences.

Book Groups
AWA currently has several book groups that each meet once a month on different days and times. Our traditional style groups allow you the opportunity to meet other women and to participate in regular discussion of books. Book Group members decide on the books to read in advance so that everyone has ample time to obtain and read them.
Attendance: As our book groups are often oversubscribed, we ask that you only register for a group if you can attend regularly. If you have registered but you miss three meetings in a row, we will sadly have to cancel your registration to allow another member to participate.

Morning Group (AM) - meets on alternating 2nd Tue & 2nd Wed of the month

Local Tours
AWA offers members the opportunity to explore and learn more about Singapore through an array of Local Tours. Understand the symbolism of Chinese New Year, discover the meaning of Thaipusam or Vesak Day, explore colorful shophouses or Singapore's "black and whites," trek Bukit Timah, or visit Pulau Ubin.
All tours are led by a professional guide. So put on your walking shoes, grab a bottle of water, and get ready to experience something special. There's a lot to discover with AWA Local Tours!

Movie Lunch
This social group meets once a month to watch a movie together and then go for lunch to engage in lively discussions, sharing thoughts and insights. You can check the calendar or below to see the next date for our movie.
We’ll meet at Shaw Theatres Lido 15-20 minutes before the start of the movie to purchase our tickets with seats near each other, afterwards, we’ll walk to a nearby place for lunch. (As movie schedules are released late, we do not know what movie we will watch until the previous week.)
Money is not collected by the AWA. Everyone will cover their own costs for the movie ticket and lunch.

Roots Researchers
The Roots Researchers special interest group includes genealogy enthusiasts, essentially anyone interested in researching their family history. From beginners to professionals, all are welcome! We can pick each others' brains on where and how to research when we hit "brick walls!". We arrange our meetings via WhatsApp chat, the registration for the group is renewed annually.

Speaker's Lunch
The Speaker's Lunch is a chance to gather with fellow AWA members and learn something new. Each month, the AWA will introduce you to one of a fascinating range of speakers. These talks will be informative, thought-provoking, and, most of all, fun! This is a fantastic way to meet new members, have fun with long-time friends, and share new experiences together!
The lunches are listed on the AWA calendar for registration each month, and are open to all AWA members.
