Social Special Interest Children's Activities Sports Tours Volunteering

The American Woman's Association has so many opportunities for people who want to volunteer their time. Whether you are interested in learning a new skill or continuing to use a well loved ability we hope to point you in the right direction. AWA volunteer requests are separated into three areas:

We hope you will find what you are looking for or talk with us about starting a new group that might fit your need. Contact Stowe Alrutz for details.

If you wish to donate items to charity please check our Where To Donate page.

International Woman of the Year 2010

We all know women who deserve more recognition for the hard work they do either through their career or through volunteering.  The AWA International Woman of the Year Award held in conjunction with International Woman's Day is a great way to recognize these role models and the significant impact they have on our community.  Please join us for the Award Ceremony on Friday, March 5 for this lovely event.  Please see the Event Details page for more information.

AWA Outreach

Mt. Elizabeth Hospital Visitation

We visit hospitalized expat patients, some with no family or friends in Singapore, and provide reading materials and an opportunity to chat. We work in teams of two pushing the book cart through the various wards. Currently we cover two weeks of the month, excluding weekends and national holidays. Become a regular volunteer or sign up for hours that fit your schedule. We also collect recently used magazines. Please drop them off at the AWA office. Contact Paula Robinson for details on how you can volunteer.

Environmental Committee

The Green Corner is an environmental committee formed by a small group of dedicated volunteers who want to explore ways in which we, as expats, can live a more environmentally friendly, sustainable lifestyle. We meet the fourth Tuesday of the month at the AWA Conference Room at 10am. Please join us. For more information contact Melissa Diagana.

Blood Drives

The AWA tries to arrange blood drives twice a year. They will be listed in the BT magazine and on the website, so keep your eyes peeled!

Cancer Support Group

This group meets on the third Thu of each month in the AWA conference room, all are welcome to join. The focus will be on mutual support and sharing information among fellow cancer patients, survivors & friends. Contact Elissa Bayliss for more information.
