Looking for some interesting activities for your children? The Children's Committee arranges a variety of fun-filled family activities and events throughout the year, as well as playgroups for pre-school children.
For specific dates, times and locations of kid's activities please see the Event Details page.
Playgroups
To all AWA moms with children; we currently have playgroups for kids from newborns to age 4. Each group meets on a different day and time each week. Please contact AWA Playgroups if you are interested in joining one of the groups.
Children's Committee Volunteer Opportunities
This committee is designed to involve members with young children in planning, organizing and implementing activities for their children. In doing so members are able to find social interaction for their children. Additionally, they network with other mothers who have common experiences in motherhood and expat life. For more information please contact Jenny O'Malley.
Schools in Singapore
An International School is considered by the Singapore Government to be one with a curriculum based upon a foreign system. Examples are SAS, which uses the American system or Chatsworth, SAIS, OFS, ISS, etc, which use the IB/PYP system.
For more information and a complete listing of international schools in Singapore, visit Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE).
The Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) licenses some schools as 'approved institutions', which allows eligible Singaporean citizens to utilize the Children Development Co-Saving (CDA) Scheme for the payment of kindergarten fees. It also means that they are 'childcare centers' and can provide before and after-school daycare to cater to working parents. For more information visit MCYS.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) advises local preschools/kindergartens to give priority to local children. For more information on local preschools and kindergartens, visit MOE.
