On arrival we will drive 2 hours to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. The city retains its original architectural design, and the men and women still dress in traditional garb. We will visit monuments, the national stadium, and the School of Arts and Crafts. The evening will end with a blessing ceremony by Rimpochen. Lunch and dinner included.

Day 2 Monday, September 17:

We will be going up to Dochu La Pass at 3,140 metres for a view of the Eastern Himalaya, then on to Punakha where we will hike to the Chimmi Lhakhang temple, dedicated to Drukpa Kuenley, affectionately known as “the Divine Madman.” Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 3 Tuesday, September 18:

A day in the Punkha valley will include a hike through fields of chilies, cabbages, and rice. We will see the remains of Bhutan’s first ruler and a visit to the village of Talo and the stunning village temple. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 4 Wednesday, September 19:

We will descend through the valley along the Kingdom’s only east-west highway to Wangdi, the “windy place.” After lunch, we will drive back to Punakha via a stunning hill-top nunnery and temple known for its beautiful Stupa. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.
